Comparative study of internal fixation of diaphyseal fractures of both bones of the forearm in adults between intramedullary nailing and plate osteosynthesis

Background: Diaphyseal forearm fracture is one of the most commonly encountered fractures upper extremity. The literatures comparing outcome plate fixation and intramedullary nailing in adults are scarce therefore consensus on superiority over other lacking. This study was undertaken to compare these operative techniques with diaphyseal both bone forearm. Aims Objectives: Materials Methods: Patients 18–70 years age, bones <21 days old, were recruited. randomly allocated two treatment groups: osteosynthesis. followed up at 4th week, 12th 24th week post-operative period. Functional measured end based Clinical Radiological parameters by Anderson et al., Score, Grace-Eversman Disabilities Arm, Shoulder Hand (DASH) Score. Results: comprised 40 cases (n=40) who completed follow-up period 24 weeks. Most patients treated (80%) demonstrated excellent as per score while unsatisfactory 50% those nails. About 90% group had result contrast case nail following Grace Eversman criteria. Considering DASH score, former showed mostly (40%) good (45%) latter exhibited fair (55%) (30%) result. Conclusion: It may be stated that osteosynthesis a better option adults.
